NOTE: THE CODE IN THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN SOLVED. THE CHANGES IN THE ROSES FROM WHITE TO BLUE, ENCODED AS BINARY NUMBERS, THEN TO LETTERS, AND THEN THROUGH A VIGENERE CIPHER WITH THE 'JAM' QUOTE “Now I taught the weepin willow how to cry” PRODUCES:

“a card chosen a spell is cast a door opens”

What we think we know about this video:

The code embedded in the video is similar to a Baudot Code. Baudot Code is a 5 bit character encoding used for telegraphs. There are several similarities to Baudot code.First, Ricky says “Our new code is as basic as can be, it's ELECTRICITY. 00000…is…a null state”. The Baudot code sent characters over a telegraph line by manipulating electricity. Secondly, in Baudot Code five zeros is a null character. Third, Ricky says “It's a more archaic version than something like ASCII. I mean how many bits do you really need to express 26 letters?” Baudot code preceded ASCII and uses 5 bits to represent 26 letters, which is the fewest number of bits to represent 26 characters (2^5=32).

Clues which could contribute to solving the code include “The difference between a red rose and a white rose is as plain as the difference between red and white. And the difference between black and white. Or black and blue. . . But blue roses don't appear in nature, do they.” and “Can you find the other coordinate hinted in the video”, which implies that a coordinate is encoded in the video, perhaps in addition to whatever is represented by the Baudot Code.

Below is a list of all of Ricky's answers on his Youtube page.

Ricky has said “This year's code is far easier than last years, son.”

“The circles you've recently wandered in are stationary, virtual, google earth, and all that. If you ain't gettin' up you ain't gettin' up. Head east, head north, head west, head south, make a day of it, make the circle count. Buy a new pair of hiking boots, get an oil change, visit our local librarys, stop and check out the historical markers. Just don't be gettin' up in the middle of the night in the middle of a national park in the middle of a new moon., lest you meet up with your familiar face. . .

There is usually a code, but usually something I make up. Our new code is as basic as can be, it's ELECTRICITY. 00000 is like a new moon, a null state, and the message follows. Leave an iris on my grave when you receive the full message in reply.”

“I thought by using simple binary it might be easier than the other codes to solve. It's a more archaic version than something like ASCII. I mean how many bits do you really need to express 26 letters?”

“first letter of each term though . . . almost decoded the old zebulon code there! HA!”

“im so used to text in binary being 8 bit ASCII . . . I wouldn't use a code that anyone is used to. But, even regular ascii, the difference between a capital letter and lower case is just those last couple of bits. 00001 = A in either set. The difference between a red rose and a white rose is as plain as the difference between red and white. And the difference between black and white. Or black and blue. . . But blue roses don't appear in nature, do they.”

“I owed you that at least, you picked the card. . . Can you find the other coordinate hinted in the video, I wonder”

“Wendy is very astute, she knows much about all of this, even if she doesn't quite understand. It wasn't around Christmas, it was on Christmas, she created the images as she posted them that day. These sorts of rituals are tied to specific dates and phases, as much as they are tied to specific locations and the leylines we see in our dreams.”
