codes

This is an old revision of the document!

There are at least four styles of codes or ciphers in the mystery. The simplest two, which have already been translated, are the words written in Cherokee in the book, and the Freemason cipher which appears on page 49 of the book.

The second cipher encompasses four separate pages and sections of capital letters. They are:

NJKUZGJMVNUAGEWVOFXY
EFBXDMIEYHHAD
- on the flyleaf of the book

RQDTGSWMRGTOT
AOPOJKFDWKGZBD
TSHEB
- on page 503

HFEWLBKXHZOOP
- on page 515

PEKNMMLMXYXAKCEIRFAOU
TUOGNXTZCKDDTALULA
- on page 636

Many attempts have been made to decipher these sections of text, with no success. Most types of ciphers, including grille, transposition (Caesar shift, etc.), and substition (i.e. Vigenere) ciphers have been tried.

The last code appears in the ZEBULON video, and consists of a series of playing cards with geographic coordinates written on them. Some of the cards are inverted. The order of the cards is:

3 diamonds
5 clubs
Queen clubs
5 diamonds
2 diamonds
7 diamonds
6 diamonds
8 diamonds
2 diamonds (inverted)
7 clubs
Ace of clubs

Followed by a non-suit card showing a map of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains area, and then by the two Joker cards.

All of the cards in the deck are represented at least once, but only diamonds and clubs cards appear inverted.
